Biography

Michael J. Hasselberg, PhD, is currently an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Clinical Nursing at the University of Rochester. Dr. Hasselberg received his PhD degree in Health Practice Research in 2013. Dr. Hasselberg is also a graduate of The Academy for Healthcare Leadership Advancement through the Healthcare Association of New York State and the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University. He is a board certified psychiatric nurse practitioner, and is the Director of UR Medicine Telepsychiatry Program, and the UR Project ECHO.

He has been recently been appointed the behavioral health lead for the UR Medicine Health Lab. The Health Lab is a multidisciplinary collaboration between the University of Rochester Medical Center and the College of Arts, Sciences, and Engineering tasked to build new technologies and systems that leverage cloud-based computing and analytics, multifunction sensors, 3D imaging and modeling, point of care diagnostics, machine learning, and virtual reality technologies to navigate and overcome the challenges in medicine.

Dr. Hasselberg has published on digital health in peer-reviewed journals, and has been invited to present on clinical innovation at regional, national, and international forums. Dr. Hasselberg has a special interest in leveraging technology to deliver high quality, evidence-based care to adults with mental health conditions and the transformation of health care delivery systems from volume to value.
