Biography

Colleen Smith is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Deputy Project Director for Newark Community Solutions where she responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations and assisting with the planning, implementation, management, and evaluation of the project’s community justice program goals and objectives. Ms. Smith has over a decade of experience working with justice-involved individuals in both custodial and community-based programs. Ms. Smith chairs the Essex County Comprehensive Emergency Assistance/Continuum of Care (CEAS/CoC)’s Consumer Justice Committee which seeks to identify and respond to local policies and legislation which keep people from accessing and sustaining housing services. In addition to her work in the criminal justice system, Ms. Smith works provides forensic evaluations within the immigration system and works in social work education. She holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work from New York University and Bachelor’s Degree from McGill University.
