Biography

Brenda Averett received her Masters of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Eastern Michigan University. She is a Doctoral Candidate at Grand Canyon University completing her Dissertation in Education Organizational Leadership with an Emphasis in Higher Education Leadership. Mrs. Averett is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and K-12 Endorsed School Counselor. She holds a Bachelor of Social Worker License and is an Approved Counselor Supervisor and Certificated College Advisory.

Mrs. Averett is the Chair of The Counseling Department at Ypsilanti Community School and Coordinator of the Handle With Care Program. In addition, Mrs. Averett is the Director of The Counseling and Prevention Network ,PC with over 25 years of Clinical experience. She has served as an Adjunct Professor at Eastern Michigan University and at Henry Ford College. She is a frequent guest speaker, and conference facilitator. She served on the Eastern Michigan University Department of Leadership and Counseling Advisory Board, and was recognized for her work with youth by the Michigan College Access Network, Counselor of the Year Nomination.

Brenda is a member of the Michigan Counselor Association and has been featured in The Ann Arbor News, and The Eastern Michigan Exemplar for her dedication and commitment to youth, helping them reach their highest potential. Mrs. Averett is proud and delighted to serve as Project Director of PROMISE lead trained for teachers, administrators and staff.
