Dr. Shannon N. Zenk, PhD, MPH, RN, FAAN, is a Nursing Collegiate Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Nursing. Her goals are to advance science on social determinants of health and health behaviors, and identify effective multilevel solutions to eliminate racial/ethnic and socioeconomic inequities. She is also interested in understanding whether individuals’ neighborhood environments modify the effectiveness of policies and programs.
Dr. Zenk is Associate Editor of Health & Place and Health Education & Behavior, Chair of the NIH Community Influences on Health Behavior study section, and Co-Chair of the Healthy Food Retail Working Group. Her recent honors include the International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame, Sigma Theta Tau and the President’s Award, Friends of the National Institute of Nursing Research.
Dr. Zenk earned a BSN from Illinois Wesleyan University, joint MS-MPH from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and PhD in health behavior and health education from the University of Michigan.
