Physician Assistant
Los Angeles County Department of Health Services
Los Angeles, California
Biography

Oscar Smith (PA-C) received his Physician Assistant (PA) training, at age 22, at the University of Southern California (USC). He has been a practicing PA since 1993. His training exposed him to the Emergency Department at Los Angeles County (LAC)/USC Medical Center, and inspired him to pursue working there.

To gain more experience to be a good candidate, he pursued other professional opportunities. This led to having a rewarding career working in Adolescent Medicine, Correctional Medicine, Primary Care, HIV/AIDS Disease, Homeless Healthcare, Mobile Healthcare, Urgent Care, and most recently Emergency Medicine at various locations.

After years traveling and working around the country, Oscar returned to Los Angeles in 2005 and has been there ever since. He thinks of his career as going full circle, as he is currently working at his Dream Job in the Emergency Department at LAC+USC Medical Center, after joining the team in 2010.
