Biography

Nohemi Garcia is a bilingual Marriage and Family Therapist and a Licensed Professional Counselor who specializes in working with traumatized and bereaved youth and adults. She graduated from the University of Houston-Clear Lake in 2012 with a degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. She is currently in private practice with the Grief Recovery Center in Houston, Texas where she treats an array of mental health issues in the community. Prior to her private practice, she was a member of the Trauma and Grief Center for Youth since early 2018 and a member of the Mobile Clinic Program, providing care for children in underserved communities. Nohemi has specialized training and practice in multiple evidence-based treatment models including EMDR, TF-CBT, and RPT. Nohemi is passionate about working with immigrant children and adults who have diverse backgrounds including human trafficking, sexual abuse, and unaccompanied minors. She believes in helping youth learn self-compassion as a stepping stone to building intrinsic empowerment, and is passionate about advocating through educating the community and professionals involved in shaping children’s mental health care services.
