Biography

Joseph Currier, PhD, is a licensed psychologist who serves as Associate Professor with the Clinical & Counseling Psychology Doctoral Program at University of South Alabama. His research focuses on trauma and moral injury, spiritually integrated approaches to mental health care, and other topics related to applied psychology of religion and spirituality (e.g., God representations, religious and spiritual struggles). He has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles in support of these lines of research and scholarship. Joe has also co-authored two books with American Psychological Association entitled Trauma, Meaning, and Spirituality: Translating Research into Clinical Practice and Addressing Moral Injury in Clinical Practice, and serves as an editorial board member with Psychology of Religion and Spirituality, Traumatology, and Death Studies. Joe also serves as the Clinical Director for Veterans Recovery Resources, an inter-disciplinary and community-based organization in Mobile, Alabama serving veterans and first responders suffering from substance abuse, PTSD and other health-related issues.
