Biography

I am a General Internal Medicine physician and health services researcher. I am also the System Executive Director for Health Equity for UNC Health.

My research focuses on several themes:
1) impact of social relationships (or lack thereof- i.e. social isolation) on health and well-being;
2) impact of family involvement in care on health and health care delivery for adults with chronic illnesses; and
3) implementation and evaluation of strategies to reduce cardiovascular health disparities by addressing social determinants of health and health equity.
