Biography

Dr. Kawakami is from Oahu and graduated from Oregon State University with his Pharm.D. degree. After graduation, Dr. Kawakami completed a PGY-1 residency at The Queen’s Medical Center. Following residency, he worked as a clinical pharmacist at The Queen’s Medical Center, Tripler Army Medical Center, and the Department of Veteran’s Affairs Pacific Islands Health Care System.

Dr. Kawakami is Faculty member at the University of Hawai'i at Hilo, The Daniel K. Inouye College of Pharmacy. He teaches in the area of geriatric pharmacotherapy. He currently practices at Pali Momi Medical Center in Aiea, Hawaii.

Dr. Kawakami is also a Major in the United States Army Reserve with over 13 years of service. He is currently assigned to the 1984th United States Army Hospital – Pacific as the Training and Operations Officer for the Brigade.
