Biography

Dr. Anita Martin, MD, FAAP is a pediatrician at Elbowoods Memorial Health Center serving the Three Affiliated Tribes (Mandan, Hidasta, and Arikara) in New Town, North Dakota. She is the Chief Medical Officer. As the Chief Medical Officer, she has direct supervision over 37 clinical services staff personnel. The staff includes medical, dental, pharmacy, behavioral health, optometry, and laboratory professionals. The CMO ensures quality patient care, hiring and retaining qualified staff and staff development. She is the liaison between the clinical staff and Tribal, State, and Federal governments.

Dr. Martin received her medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine. She completed her residency training at Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio (now known as Nationwide Children’s Hospital) and has been in practice for 33 years. During her career, she has practiced in multiple practice settings, including a rural, a HMO, a private, a hospital-based, an Urgent Care, and a tribal practice.
