Amanda Brickhouse Murphy, CNM, MSN supports folks of all ages in the clinic and hospital, specializing in prenatal care, labor, birth and postpartum care that focuses on the voice of a patient in her/their overall experience. Amanda’s belief is that healthcare is a partnership between patient and provider, with the patient being the expert. She also believes that the best outcomes start with relationship. This brought her to the work of addressing health and racial equity and bridging clinical change with community capacity.
She is the Medical Director of Mothering Asheville, a movement structured around the Community Centered Health model that seeks to push against the barriers of an oppressive system in order to seek equity in community. She is also the Director of Centering Pregnancy, an evidence based model that changes the way healthcare is delivered by engaging families in their own care and, by doing so, improves birth outcomes.
