Deputy Director

Rachel Berthiaume is the Deputy Director of Distance Education for Clinical Scholars. Her career in public health began as a Research Assistant in HIV/AIDS/STI prevention and treatment at local health clinics in sub-Saharan Africa in the Epidemiology Department at UNC-Chapel Hill’s Gillings School of Global Public Health (GSGPH). She received her Masters of Public Health in Health Behavior and Health Education from UNC-CH GSGPH. Rachel has previously managed implementation and evaluation projects in Philadelphia, PA and Michigan, examining intersections between communities and public agencies to improve maternal and child health service delivery and to support individuals’ efforts to practice healthy behaviors. She also coordinated the innovative Northeast Diabetes Pilot of NC eHealth Refer & Track that sought to establish an electronic referral tracking system between care providers and community-based health programs.
