Debbie Jepson grew up in the UK, where she worked for over twelve years within the British National Health Service. Spanning roles at a strategic level for a Regional Health Authority; and at an operational level for a smaller Community Health NHS Trust; her values are shaped by her first-hand experience of universal health and social care coverage, which although it is rationed, is always free at the point of access.
Debbie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Durham University (UK) and a Master of Science degree in Management from Durham University Business School (UK). She consolidated her extensive coaching experience when she moved to the USA, with a certificate in Business Coaching from the North Carolina State University, and Business Coach Institute (USA). Debbie’s clients benefit from over thirty years’ experience in management roles in human resource and staff development within the British National Health Service and as an independent consultant and coach, working with public and private sector clients in Europe and North America.
Debbie is the Principal of Jepson Coaching, which she founded in the UK in 1998 to help clients thrive in the workplace. She enjoys engaging with “bright and sparky people”, helping them confidently and consistently excel, and is particularly successful partnering with technical experts and specialists in healthcare, science and technology roles when they are transitioning into broader leadership roles. She works closely with individuals on their behaviors, knowledge and skills, enhancing professionalism and overcoming barriers that hold them back.
Debbie also works with the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she has been coaching Executives and MBA students since 2011; and with the Gilling’s School of Public Health, also at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, providing coaching since 2013 for Fellows of: the ACOG National Leadership Institute; the Maternal and Child Health Public Health Leadership Institute; and the Food Systems Leadership Institute. She joined the coaching team for the National Clinical Scholars Program in 2018.
Debbie believes strongly in continuing development as a way to keep fresh and engaged at work and is a member of the local chapter of the International Coach Federation (ICF-RAC). She is certified in a broad range of assessment instruments which she leverages for her client’s development.
